Minecraft for the Wii U Not Likely to Happen Anytime Soon

Minecraft is now moving past the Xbox 360 and PC and on to the Vita, PS3, Xbox One, and PS4. Originally Microsoft had an exclusivity deal with Mojang, the developers of Minecraft meaning they were the only console that was going to be able to get the game. Now that this deal is over, Mojang will be moving the game to other platforms. It seems, according to game creator Notch, that Minecraft won’t be coming to the Wii U anytime soon.

“I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft.” He tweeted. Notch was quick to let everyone know that it was workload that caused this not to happen and not a lack of love for Nintendo in another Tweet. “I agree a Wii U version would make sense, [by the way]. The only reason for no current plans is we’ve got too much work already. I ❤ Nintendo.”

While I know the Wii U isn’t doing the greatest this season so it stands to reason that a game like Minecraft wouldn’t go to that platform first. While I don’t care too much for the Wii U itself, I think a game like Minecraft would lend well to the Wii U’s touch screen pad. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
