If you were having trouble with the iTunes store on Wednesday, you were not the only one. In a surprising turn of events, Apple actually explained what caused the outage. According to Apple it was “an internal DNS error” that led to hours of difficulties of people trying to access the iTunes store.
“We’re working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we think everyone for their patience,” Apple said in a statement.
The site’s system status website confirmed the issue, which began early on Wednesday morning and did not resolve itself until around 4 pm PST. There were people that did not notice the issue but for those that did found making purchases from iTunes and the app store nearly impossible.
iCloud, Game Center and the iTunes Connect web portal for developers were also affected. The issue did not only affect the US but had issues around the globe. However, by late on Wednesday, all systems have been restored and everything is right with the world again.
