They’re crossing the streams people!
Maisie Williams is best known as Arya Stark on HBO’s “kind of a big deal” show Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is, obviously, a fantasy world and is compelling in its drama and scope. Doctor Who is a science fiction show that has captured the imaginations of many fans for years. What do these two shows have in common you ask? Well soon, as IGN reports, they’ll have Williams in common when she guest stars on Doctor Who.
“I’m so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture,” Williams said. “I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.”
Doctor Who’s lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat also said: “We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”
As has already been pointed out we don’t quite know who she’ll be playing in the show but we can logically guess it will be important. She’s a bit to big of an actor at this point for a casual in the background scene. Doctor Who is currently filming two period shows, The Girl Who Died written by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Moffat, and The Woman Who Lived written by Catherine Tregenna.
