April Fools has come and gone yet again and I’m sure we all saw our fair share of nonsense. One joke however started off depressing but ended up being a very welcomed announcement for Deadpool fans. The short of it is Deadpool will be a rated R film, and according to Ryan Reynolds tweets its going to be insane.
First the joke, which kind of confirmed a standing rumor about the film being PG-13. It’s unknown if the rumor was started on purpose to lead into the joke but its a safer assumption that Marvel didn’t know if they wanted to go full R rated at first.
Then of course Deadpool himself (yup, now and forever) confirmed its all a joke and we will be treated to a R rated Deadpool, as it should be.
The video, seen above, also confirms the rating and adds a heavy dose of comedy to the mix. I’m happy to see Marvel (and the ever watchful eye of Disney) has decided to do the character properly and not dumb it down to get a bigger audience in theater seats. Deadpool will be directed by Tim Miller and stars Ryan Reynolds, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano and Morena Baccarin. Expect the film to hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
