When Netflix released their original series, Marvel’s Daredevil, you sort of thought they would do something for the blind given the main protagonist is himself blind. Apparently not.
After some harsh criticism, Netflix has decided to start offering a audio description for the series along with some of their other original series. The plan is to have a narrator explaining the action scenes in conjunction with the audio in the series.
Many activists and people took to social media to criticize Netflix for not making the move when the series was released. Primarily since the start is a blind super hero. Which seems to make some sense.
The rollout happened on Tuesday and can be found in the audio settings of the app where the other language option are located. I think Netflix sort of dropped the ball on this but since they never had the option prior it seems someone fell asleep at the wheel.
