Any true gamer knows the game Contra. While that game was hard, it was one of those games that you kept playing. For a while now, I have been wondering where I can play that game again. Well, Konami just seems to have our backs on this one, in the form of a new Star Wars-based game that featured that loveable Wookie, Chewbacca.
Konmai and LucasArts’ free-to-play, card-based game Star Wars: Force Collection will now include a mini-game that pays homage to the company’s classic run-and-shoot game, Contra. While the game will not feature Lance or Bill, it does have Chewbacca that will take on a flurry of Stormtroopers in classic Contra-inspired levels.
The game sends Chewie to the forest moon of Endor. With his trusty boxcaster at his side, Chewie will take on Stormtroopers and the occasional AT-ST. It is essentially a recreation of the original classic with side-scrolling and pseudo-3D levels and a version of the game’s iconic spread shot power-up.
Star Wars: Force Collection is available for free on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store. Unfortunately, you will not be able to jump right into the mini-game, but you will need to play through the mobile game’s tutorial of the card game in order to access the mini-game. That seems like a fair trade off.
