As we start to get news if previously aired shows are returning in the fall, along with Supergirl, Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter, it seems that the much-speculated Arrow/The Flash spinoff has been given a green light and will debut during the 2015-2016 television season. Now, it is not sure if it will be a midseason series or a full season pick up.
All the previously speculated character: The Atom, Firestorm, Canary and Firestorm will be part of the cast, as well as new characters like Rip Hunter and Hawkgirl. There was not pilot done of the series, like what was done with The Flash but with the success of both series – it should have been given a green light immediately.
Here is the official synopsis of the series:
When heroes alone are not enough, the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
The series was officially announced as DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. It brings together characters from both Arrow and The Flash series like Victor Garber (“The Flash”) Brandon Routh (“Arrow”), Caity Lotz (“Arrow”), Arthur Darvill, Ciarra Renee, Franz Drameh star, alongside Dominic Purcell (“The Flash”) and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash”).
The production team behind Arrow, The Flash and the upcoming Supergirl will be behind the new series. Not to mention that DC will behind the show, it will be nice to see the closest thing to the Justice League on television that we can get. I hope the film versions can match the popularity and success of the various television series.
