Back on Monday of last week, we mentioned that Ubisoft would be announcing their new entry into the Assassin’s Creed franchise with Syndicate. On Tuesday of last week, Ubisoft made the official announcement that the game would be coming out this fall for all the current-gen consoles, much like their last entry Assassin’s Creed Unity.
The new game will take the ongoing was between the Assassins and the Templars to Victorian London. Players will take control of Jacob Frye and Evie, his twin sister. They stir a revolt among the corrupt society that is ruling the country rather than royalty.
There will be different weapons that will be used such as rope launchers to scale the buildings and zip-lines. Jacob and Frye will organize followers into a group known as the syndicates into a war with the Templars for control of different sections of the city.
As the scenery changes, like we saw with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, we find ourselves on the cusp of burning out the franchise for many of the usual players. Once you get past the visual different and some of the new gadgetry, it comes down to being a very repetitive game. Not to mention that major issues when the game is launched will cause people to stay away, as it happened with Unity.
The game is slated for release on October 23rd for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Later in the fall with the game be released for the PC. However, after the reviews and the lackluster response from Unity players, I think I will sit this one out.
