Square Enix has been enjoying riding the trains they created a while ago. That really isn’t a bad thing either with franchises like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts under their belt. However it’s always nice when something new is worked on, and better yet when it ends up being good.
The Japanese game developer has announced that are working on some new “experimental” projects that are completely unique to what they’ve done in the past.
“I cannot disclose much at this moment, but we are working on various initiatives, including some experimental projects,” Square Enix president and representative director Yosuke Matsuda said revealed at the company’s latest financial briefing.
“So far, we have created IPs for a wide range of platforms, including consoles, smart devices, PCs and publication,” he continued. “Based on this strength, we will actively work on creating new IPs in FY2016/3.”
Square Enix has a press conference coming up at E3 this year following Nintendo’s Digital Event where more is sure to be disclosed. Let’s all hope Square Enix is bringing back the good old days.
