As Hollywood has shown us, it has a 30-year recycle program. Every thirty years or so, they recycle movies and churn them out to an unsuspecting public. Big Trouble in Little China is one of my favorite movies and favorite Kurt Russell movies. It seems that 20th Century Fox is such a fan that they are planning to remake the movie with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the lead.
X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are taking a shot at the script, according to The Wrap. It seems that The Rock is in negotiations to star and produce the remake and after the opening weekend he had with San Andreas, it seems that all his fans are onboard.
Big Trouble in Little China is one of The Rock’s favorite movies, it will be interesting to see if The Rock stays on board with it. The original did not do that well when it was released in 1986 but has turned into a cult classic.
Johnson will soon be seen on HBO’s new original series “Ballers,” which debuts later this month, and is also set to star in Warner Bros.’ comic book movie “Shazam.” Johnson is also lending his voice to Disney’s animated movie “Moana.”
As much as I love the classic and dig watching The Rock, these two films will have to separate themselves from one another. For once, I would be actually interested in seeing how the movie turns out but we will have to wait for a bit for this to happen.
