As the online click-bate is going on about how Marvel is not going to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con because they are scared of Warner Bros., it would seem that Marvel is getting bigger stars for their properties than DC at this point. As well as nabbing a former Doctor and a pair from Sherlock, it seems that they managed to get an Oscar nominee to play opposite Benedict Cumberbatch for Doctor Strange.
Chiwetel Ejiofor has been cast as Baron Mordo, a student of the mystical arts and a major foe for Strange. You may remember Ejiofor from films like 12 Years a Slave, Children of Men, Serenity and Love Actually.
Deadline is reporting that the character, who is white in the comics, is being changed for the movie. The character will not be completely “villainous” but an “amalgamation of characters culled from Doctor Strange mythology.”
As production has gotten underway for Captain America: Civil War, it will likely be the time that we will see more casting news as Doctor Strange is the next film that Marvel Studios will begin production when Civil War ends later this summer. This casting news should get fans excited for the upcoming film.
