Transformers has always been a bit of a strange franchise in the video game world. After the release of the first live-action movie, it seemed a perfect place for it to make a jump to video game consoles. However, the games were met with some mild-success and lukewarm reviews. However, it seems that Activision is coming back a throwback to what many people love about the early 80’s cartoon series.
PureBox is reporting that Activision is going to present a new Cel-shaded Transformers title for Xbox. While the site is reporting strictly for the Xbox 360, Polygon has reported that Amazon in Canada is doing pre-orders for Transformers: Devastation set for release on October 6th on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
The original source of the story is very focused on an Xbox 360 release but given that it is Activision behind the game – as we saw with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – they are not for singling out one specific platform versus having an open revenue stream.
PureBox states that we will be learning more about the game when it is announced at this week’s E3 event. Whether it is strictly a downloadable title versus a physical game, it will be played by everyone that loved the original cartoon and comic book from the eighties. I can guarantee you that I will be getting this game too.
