As soon as Microsoft announced that backwards compatibility was going to be a thing for the Xbox One people started to hope for their favorite games to make the first round. While this shouldn’t be much of a surprise to anyone Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption is leading the vote for the Xbox 360 game to be brought to the Xbox One.
Backwards compatibility was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 conference earlier this week. The company confirmed over 100 Xbox 360 games will be made available to play on the Xbox One by the holiday season including Mass Effect, which was shown off at the event.
Xbox 360 games will be available for purchase on Xbox Live to download to your console. The best news however is the ability to use a physical disc as well. When you insert a compatible Xbox 360 game it will trigger the game download to your system. This will be great for those that already own these games or wants to save a few bucks buying used.
In order for Red Dead Redemption to make it Rockstar themselves will have to allow it and more than likely do a bit of work to get the game to integrate with the Xbox One’s online functions. Fingers crossed people.
