There are probably some of you out there, myself included, that are looking forward to this long holiday weekend to get some gaming in. Hopefully, that will continue to happen if Microsoft does not get a repeat of what happened on Wednesday when Xbox Live users experienced sign-in issues.
It did not take long for Microsoft to take to a blog post to acknowledge the issue. “Xbox members,” the post said, “are you having issues signing in to Xbox Live? Our team is engaged and investigating this issue right now and we will not stop till everything is running smoothly again! Thanks for your patience while we work. We’ll update you when we have more information.”
From the screenshow (via Polygon), you can see that the sign-in issue affected Xbox One, Xbox 360 users as well as Xbox on other devices. The issue seemed to start around 12:25pm PT and was finally resolved around 3:00 pm PT. As of this writing, Xbox seems to be up and running.
There is no official word as to what led to the issue but it is likely that we will never fully know. Since it is July first, Xbox is starting their new free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers which include Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag as one of the free downloads for this month. I seriously doubt that had anything to do with it but we will have to see if they explain the issue, which I doubt.
