Elodie Yung is no Jennifer Garner but she will do. Marvel announced on Tuesday that they not only are they going to bring in Electra in the second season of Daredevil but they have already cast the role. Yung, whose past credits include G.I. Joe: Retaliation as well as District 13: Ultimatum, has been cast in the role of the assassin.
On Monday, it was announced that production has begun on the second season of Daredevil, as set photos of Matt and Froggy were snapped in New York. Production would had to have begun soon as the second season is slated for release in 2016. Yung will be playing the exotic girl that Matt knew in college, which was mentioned in the series.
“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity,” said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”
It remains unclear as how she will fit into the season, which is slated to have Jon Bernthal as The Punisher for season two. It has been rumored that we will see Bernthal’s transformation from a cop to the vigilante. Could Electra have a spot in that? We will have to find out when the series returns on Netflix in 2016.
