Comedy Central has given their animated comedy South Park another three seasons. Network president Michele Ganeless announced the show will go on with it’s 21st 22nd and 23rd seasons, which sets the show to air through 2019. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Hulu will also pay Viacom and South Park’s creatve team $192 million USD over the next five years to continue streaming the series. Viacom and South Park will take a 50/50 split of Hulu’s payout.
“South Park remains the bedrock of Comedy Central and we are thrilled that new episodes will continue to entertain audiences for years to come,” said Ganeless. “The series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in it continues to draw generations of new fans.”
South Park is already the longest running scripted primetime series on cable and will continue that role. The series is hitting its 300th epsiode in season 23 as well.
Season 19 starts on September 16th of this year and can be seen on Comedy Central or through Hulu.
