When Marvel initially announced their television universe on Netflix, the plan seemed pretty simple. They would release Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist as individual series and play out their own arcs. After that, all four characters would team up for The Defenders series. That was the plan back in 2013.
After the success of Daredevil, Netflix has commissioned a second season, which is filming currently, before the first season of Jessica Jones has even debuted. During an opening address of the Television Critics Association press tour, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos cleared up some of the misconceptions and confusion.
According to Variety, it seems that each series will launch then you will have The Defenders crossover. Meaning that some series will have multiple seasons while others may have one. Not only that, Netflix is planning to air a new season or series every six months.
Currently, we have already had the first season of Daredevil and Jessica Jones is expected to premiere by the end of 2015. The second season of Daredevil is expected to arrive in early 2016. We know that Luke Cage was next after Jessica Jones, in fact, he is appearing in that series. When we get The Defenders series is anyone’s guess.
Maybe it could coincide with the release of Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet.
