It would seem Microsoft is making a big push with their backwards compatibility. Today, Microsoft and The Coalition announced that Xbox One owners that purchase the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, will be able to get their hands on the Xbox 360 version of the previous games due to the backwards compatibility. But the deal will not last forever.
If you buy Gears of War: Ultimate Edition between August 25th through December 31st (just through the holiday season), you can down load Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment as a bonus.
Like other Xbox 360 backward compatible games, the four Gears titles will support Xbox One features like Game DVR, screenshots and Snap, Microsoft said in an announcement, according to Polygon.
Those Xbox One owners that participated in the console’s preview program will have immediate access to the original Gears of War as of right now.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a high-definition re-release of the first game in the series for the franchise’s 10 anniversary. The game will arrive at retailers and digitally on the Xbox One on August 25th.
