During the San Diego Comic-Con last month, Stephen Amell and producers of Arrow put the word out that they are hoping to bring John Constantine back from the dead and guest shot on Arrow. Well, it all seemed to work out. The CW announced during their Television Critics Association presentation on Tuesday that Matt Ryan will reprise his former NBC character in this season of Arrow.
It seems that Constantine’s appearance in the series will have an impact on the mid-season spinoff, Legends of Tomorrow. The note that it will be a “great one-shot episode,” but we will see how that plays out.
It seems he will appear in the fifth episode of Arrow and it is titled “Haunted.” Here is what the network said about the episode:
John Constantine is a weather worn exorcist and expert on the supernatural and the occult. He is a detective, magician, and a hunter of demons, and will provide critical support to Oliver (Stephen Amell) when arrows aren’t enough.
“We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow,” said executive producer Marc Guggenheim. “Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC Universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.”
Later on, Matt Ryan himself took to his Twitter account and announced the news to his fans.
This is a great move and it really shows that Guggenheim and company really know what fans want. This shows that they and the CW love the DC fans and want to give Constantine (hopefully not) but one great send-off. I am looking forward to it and I hope you guys are too.
