So Disney is having their D23 Expo this weekend in Anaheim, and you know Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be there. However, like Comic-Con, there will be not be any new footage of the movie. There will be a new trailer but that will not be coming until this fall, which is not that far away when you think about it.
“It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise,” J.J. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. “In the fall, there’ll be a trailer.”
“We’re thrilled to go to D23 and meet the fans, but it’s a tricky thing to try and rush [footage] for a convention or preexisting event that would, of course, be fun to show something at,” Abrams said.
“I’m still editing and we’re working on refining the cut, but it’s incredibly fun to see the movie come together,” he said. “You realize certain things that you don’t need, certain things you can pull out.”
Honestly, I am okay with this. The problem with many properties nowadays, and something uncommon with J.J., is that we see so much in various trailers that many times we think we have seen the movie or we see things that may be cool only to find that they did not make the final cut.
J.J. has always kept a tight hold on his movies before they debut. Clips and images that he has released has inspired us and given us the excitement that a Star Wars movie should give us. Think about it? There has only been two trailers for the movie that is coming out this December. For that, I am okay with it.
