If you saw Disney’s animated film last year, Big Hero Six, you probably already assumed that it would probably work in a video game arena. Although, I am sure most of you probably didn’t think it would be used in the upcoming Square Enix game, Kingdom Hearts 3. Well, it is.
During Disney’s D23 Expo on Sunday, Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto announced that the characters from the movie would be featured. Hashimoto believes that the fictional city of San Fransokyo would be “a perfect fit for Kingdom Hearts.”
According to Polygon, Hashimoto “unveiled concept art of Sora riding on the back of Baymax, wielding his keyblade as they flew over San Fransokyo. The two appeared to be battling a dark version of Baymax. Hashimoto said that the development team thought it would be interesting if the antagonists in Kingdom Hearts 3 would — spoiler alert! — use the powers of darkness on the old Baymax left behind in the portal, as featured in the film.”
Roy Conli, producer of Big Hero 6 and Tangled, said the game world we see in Kingdom Hearts 3 will take place after the events of the movie and will touch on themes of friendship and light over darkness.
The release date was not announced, of course, but the game is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Whenever they decide to release it.
