Over the weekend, we heard a lot of Star Wars and Marvel news coming out of D23 Expo but there was some non-Star Wars news that weekend. This one may shine a little ray of hope on the odd Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It seems that one of the stars from the original trilogy will be returning after all. Orlando Bloom made it official that he will be returning to the franchise.
During a live-action presentation where Disney reveals all the news from their movie franchises, Orlando Bloom came out to confirm his return, but did not say in what capacity. Late last year, Bloom said he could return to the franchise but given that his dance card is not as full as it once was, he was more open to doing it.
Orlando bloom tend to try and distance himself from those roles after he completed the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Pirates, but since then he has not had a lot of roles come his way. Even when he did, he did not take off as a leading man. He did return to Middle Earth with The Hobbit films and this makes the circle complete.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is slated to open on July 7th, 2017. As well as Depp, the movie, also, stars Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner), Brenton Thwaites (The Giver), and Golshifteh Farahani (The Patience Stone), with Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, and Stephen Graham reprising their roles as Barbossa, Gibbs, and Scrum.
