Most of the time when a movie series is rebooted it ends up being a shell of its former self. Fresh takes on older material tend to loose whatever was special about the original for whatever reason. Sometimes, however, it works out and the Planet of the Apes reboot is arguably very well done. Modernizing the story but keeping true to the overall plot is tricky business, but with a third movie coming out soon it would seem they’re doing something right.
Filming for War for the Planet of the Apes, the third installment in the series, has begun filming in Vancouver hoping for a July 2017 release. Newcomers to the series like Woody Harrelson (playing a villain named the Colonel) and Steve Zahn (an unidentified ape) are on location trying to make some magic happen.
Director Matt Reeves confirmed the news in a tweet shown above. I for one can’t wait.
