CES Officially Bans Hoverboards

As 2015 is coming to an end, that means that the 2016 Consumers Electronic Show is just around the corner. Given that it has been 2015 and the anniversary of Back to the Future, hoverboards have been a big thing this year. Well, not real hoverboards like the one in the movie but you get the idea. If you thought you could cruise in with your non-hovering board, you would be mistaken.

According to The Verge, representatives of the show have confirmed that their hard-fast rule of no “wheeled transport devices (with or without motors)” are still banned from the convention. That includes “Segways, hoverboards, skateboards, uniwheels and all similar products” are not allowed on the premises.

Now, the only exception is with people with disabilities. There is a Segway exception for people with disabilities at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Sands/Venetian, and scooters and wheelchairs are available to rent at several venues.

Keep in mind that they are not hating solely on hoverboards but this is simple a revision of the original rules they always had, just this time they are including hoverboards. I know. It’s still lame.
