Daredevil star Charlie Cox has been working on promoting the second season of the series, but he has been promoting the series overseas. During a Netflix press event in Paris, it seems that Charlie Cox himself has not heard anything about an upcoming third season of the series, or even if there will be one.
During the event, he claims that he “certainly doesn’t know” when or if one will happen but he does know something about the upcoming Marvel-Netflix version of The Avengers that was slated to introduce four different characters and team them up in one complete series, The Defenders.
“What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome,” Cox announced. This may come as a surprise to people, especially since Iron Fist and Luke Cage are slated to debut before the team up.
The news has been lite on the series since, what people considered, stalled production of Iron Fist and the bombastic success of Daredevil, which lead to a season two sooner than anyone expected. Luke Cage is slated to be released later this year and Iron Fist could be coming as early as 2017.
“I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show,” Cox cautioned. “I’m very excited to see how those worlds combine, and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.”
Of course, Cox isn’t the mastermind behind the Netflix-Marvel series(s), so it is quite possible that he may have spoken out of turn. Nevertheless, this should get fans heart racing when they know that The Defenders series is happening. Sooner rather than later.
