Justice League Dark Animated Feature Set for January 2017

Many of us were hoping for a Justice League Dark film, which originally had Guillermo Del Toro attached to direct, but when he left the project it seemed all but dead. Instead, we get ourselves an animated feature with an R-rating but with Matt Ryan returning to voice the character of John Constantine. Again, with DC fearful that no one will pick it up alone, they had to add Batman to the mix to make sure that people will pick it up.

Justice League Dark will be available via digital download on January 24, 2017 for $19.99 in HD and $14.99 for SD and will eventually come out on Blu-ray with no time listed. You can, also, pick up a Blu-ray Deluxe Giftset for $39.99 which will come with a Constantine figure. Collider is listing some extras as sneak peeks at Teen Titans: The Judas ContractJustice League: Gods and Monsters, and Justice League: Doom; featurettes on Swamp Thing, the New York Comic Con panel, Constantine and Deadman; and two episodes from the DC Vault, “Dawn of the Dead Man!” and “Trials of the Demon!” from Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Along with Ryan as Constantine, Jason O’Mara as Batman, Camilla Luddington as Zatanna, Nicholas Turturro as Deadman, Ray Chase as the demon Etrigan, and Roger R. Cross as Swamp Thing will contribute to the voice acting.

Here is the official synopsis of the film and the box art and you can see the full trailer above.

When innocent civilians begin committing unthinkable crimes across Metropolis, Gotham City and beyond, Batman must call upon mystical counterparts to eradicate this demonic threat to the planet. Enter Justice League Dark, reluctantly led by the Hellblazer himself, John Constantine. Like Batman, Constantine is a cunning, often cynical loner who is the best at his chosen profession – but quickly realizes the sinister forces plaguing the planet will require help from other supernatural alliances. Forming a new “league” with sorceress Zatanna, otherworldly Deadman, and Jason Blood and his powerful alter ego Etrigan the Demon, this team of Dark Arts specialists must unravel the mystery of Earth’s supernatural plague and contend with the rising, powerful villainous forces behind the siege – before it’s too late for all of mankind.
